This is Lyra, she is a very sweet, funny and energetic dog who loves running around and playing with dogs and people. She was taken under our care this winter after she was found left in a park in a card box with her two babies and Lexi who seems to be related to her. It’s very possible that they were abandoned by their owners in such a cruel way, because it seems that they once were someone’s pet.
Sadly, Lyra has sphincter damage caused by giving birth to her puppies or by a mechanical injury (possibly caused by a car hit). Due to this, she suffered a rupture of her spinal cord in the tail area, so her tail had to be amputated. As a result of this injury she suffers from fecal incontinence.
However, this doesn’t affect her wellbeing and behavior in any way. Due to this condition she would be better suited living outdoors in a dog house in a secure well fenced yard, or otherwise regular diaper changing would be required. Despite all of this, she is very positive and playful, so if you adopt her we guarantee you you’ll never experience a boring moment and she will fill your everyday life with joy and laughter.
